CHESTER D. OLSON, 81, of 3421 Hallie Lane, died Monday, May 25, 1998 at his home. He was born March 31, 1917 to Victor and Mabel (Rush) Olson at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin. As a young boy he moved to Altoona where he grew up and attended school. Chester married Lorraine M. Woodford in Eau Claire on October 1, 1949. \r\nHe served in the European and Pacific Theatres with the U.S. Army during W.W.II, until his honorable discharge in December 1945. \r\nHe began as a machinist and retired as a supervisor at Pope and Talbot in 1979\r\nChester was a member of Pinehurst Lutheran Church and VFW Post #305.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Lorraine; two sons, Douglas (Marlene) of Eau Claire and Dan (Sue) of Chippewa Falls; a daughter, Debra (DeWayne) Lukes of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tabby, his cat. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vern, Russ, and Dick; and two sisters, Virginia Olson and Vivian Pitts.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pinehurst Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
