Obituary

Clifford Reinhold Doege, 82, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire with his family by his side. He was born on November 23, 1929 in Thorp, Wisconsin to Reinhold and Martha (Kleckner) Doege. He was a 1948 graduate of Eau Claire High School before entering the Army. Cliff married the love of his life, Annabelle B. Olson, on December 29, 1951 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire before leaving for duty during the Korean Conflict. Cliff served 18 months in Austria before returning back to Eau Claire where he worked at Uniroyal for the next 41 years. During his life with Annabelle, he enjoyed spending time in Chetek at their summer home, being out on the pontoon, spending time with his favorite pet-his adopted Greyhound Harvey, or planting his garden. Fishing, gardening, cultivating his lawn and planting different varieties of tomato plants occupied his summer and his green thumb was evident with the bounty of tomatoes he shared with family and neighbors. Cliff was a member of Chippewa Valley Aerie #2213 Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post #53 and Rubber Workers Local 119. Cliff is survived by his wife of 60 years, Annabelle; his 4 children, Deborah Amidon of Eau Claire, Wendy (Brent) Jaenke of Eau Claire, Lisa (John) Steinbicer of Milton, and Brian (Valerie) of Prescott; grandchildren, Jared and Joel Amidon, Mackenzie Berg, Morgan Vance, Derek Shadick, Britta Mork, Christopher and Jason Doege, and Chad and Cari Jaenke; great-grandchildren, Madysen, Caden, Noah, Annabelle and Jackson Amidon, Kennadie and Jackson Berg, Makenna and Landon Vance, and Elliot, Alex, Cooper, and Harrison Jaenke; sister Marceline Adrian of Kingman, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Sharron Asmussen and Shirley Hermann of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Marlene, and the staff of London Road Dialysis, for their loving care; and Dr. William Maierhofer, and staff of the 3rd floor at Mayo Clinic, for their wonderful care in Cliff's final days. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, in Eau Claire. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Olson officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. Burial with Military Rites will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be given to Hope Lutheran Church in Eau Claire or to donor's choice.
