Obituary

Clyde V. Fenner, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 28, 1930, to Jesse and Esther (Lockrem) Fenner and was a lifelong resident of Eau Claire. As a young man he worked at the Eau Claire Paper Mill and was a salesman for Sherwin William paints. He spent the majority of his career as an appliance salesman for Sears and Roebuck, retiring in 1976 following the loss of his eyesight. After his retirement, he spent 17 years as a volunteer at Luther Hospital (now Mayo Health System). He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and Masonic Lodge 351, and he spent a number of years as a Shriner participating as a clown in many parades and other events. He also served on the Wisconsin Council for the Blind. He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Mary Jane, and his three children: Susan (Jeffrey) Johnson of Eau Claire, Nanette (Gary) Froseth of Wausau, WI, and James (Catherine) Fenner of Woodbury, MN. He is further survived by his brother, Ervin (Marion) Fenner of Chippewa Falls, WI, brother Douglas (Jan) Fenner of Chippewa Falls, WI, and sister, Irene Sill of Mishawaka, Indiana, and his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. A celebration of his life will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar Street, on Friday, July 19, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the service will be his son-in-law, the Reverend Gary Froseth, burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting his family. The family wishes to thank Dr. Burns, Dr. Wergeland, the staff at the Mayo Health System Hospital, the Mayo Cancer Center, and the staff of the Mayo Hospice team for their wonderful care and support of Clyde.
