Coletta Mae Ann Schwartz, nѐe Kopplin, 90, of Eau Claire, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at her home. She was born with her twin brother, Charles, on May 28, 1923, to Carl and Amalia (Sippel) Kopplin in Eau Claire. Coletta graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the Class of 1941. She married Merton L. "Red" Schwartz on May 23, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She worked as a supervising government inspector at Presto Industries during World War II, then as an office clerk at Gillette Rubber Company. She was co-founder of Schwartz Apartments and worked 17 years with Burgoyne Research. Coletta was also a long-time employee and chairman of many election wards in Eau Claire. Mom was a kind, giving and loving person to all. Many a person passed through her doors to enjoy her popular hamburgers, coffee, and the occasional haircut. She is survived by her loving siblings, twin brother, H. Charles (Betty) and sister, Carmen Tauger-Larsen; sons, David (Sue) and James (Cindy); grandchildren, James, Michael (Megan), Lindsay and Regan Schwartz, Brett and Brooke Wallace; and great-grandson, Gregory Schwartz. She is further survived by a special friend, Charles Higley; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Coletta was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Merton L. "Red" Schwartz; sister, Joane Dumond; brother, R. H. "Bud" Kopplin; several special brothers and sisters-in law; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 Eleventh St. in Eau Claire with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., and one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Laura C. and the many staff members of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care, love and support to Mom and our family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. James the Greater Catholic Church or donor's favorite charity.
