Connie J. Gynnild, 59, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, September 5, 2004, at home surrounded by her family, after a four year battle with cancer. She was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin on May 21, 1945, the daughter of Richard and Shirley (Husby) Nelson. She graduated from Menomonie High School with the class of 1963. Connie married Robert L. Gynnild on June 10, 1967 in Menomonie.\r\nShe was a dedicated employee at Sacred Heart Hospital, working 37 years as a medical records transcriptionist.\r\nShe was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. \r\nConnie's enduring attitude and emotional strength throughout a 25 year illness with Lupus will always be remembered by her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly called her "Nana", the family cabin gatherings, collecting Longaberger baskets, reading, knitting and shopping with her daughter Sara and friends. \r\nShe is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Gregory (Robin) Gynnild and Sara (Josh) Hansen both of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ryan Gynnild, Alexandra and Amelia Hansen; father, Richard (Bonnie) Nelson of Menomonie; brother, Kris (Becky) Nelson of Menomonie; sister, Pam (Ron) Johnson of Ellsworth; sister-in-law, Diane (John) Sleizer of Rosemont, MN; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many lifelong friends. \r\nConnie was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Jean; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Delores "Bets" and Lawrence "Larry" Gynnild; and nephew, Troy Donley.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, with Pastor Mary L. Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church. \r\nHer family requests memorials are directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E.
