Corinne J. Duax, 86, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 24, 1996 at the Clairemont Nursing Home following a lenghty illness. She was born February 11, 1910 to Harry N. W. and Edith (Schwahn) Johnson at her grandparents home in Eau Claire. Corinne was the first baby baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She graduated from the Eau Claire Model School (the former Campus School) and Eau Claire Senior High School in 1927. Prior to marriage she worked for Johnson Printing Co. which her father founded.\r\nOn September 23, 1929, Corinne married Leo F. Duax in Faribault, MN. \r\nCorinne was always involved in her community and church but was most comfortable as a mother and homemaker. Her children and home were her pride and joy and she was the center of an extended family. She led her life with dignity, discipline, kindness and love for all those around her. Corinne enjoyed cooking for family and friends and looked forward to family celebrations and gatherings. She was especially thrilled this past February 11, when a surprise birthday party was held in her honor. Her delight and tears of joy were heartwarming to all her guests.\r\nCorinne was a life member of Eau Claire Service League and a member of First Congregational Church since 1937 where she had served as Church Trustee, Deaconess, teacher and member of the Altar Guild. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, PTA and Meals on Wheels until her health declined.\r\nSurvivors include two daughters, Susan (Roger) Forcier and Laurie (James) Erdman; a son, David (Kathryn) Duax all of Eau Claire; six grandchildren, Laurie, Christopher and Stephanie Forcier all of Eau Claire, Paul (Jan) Forcier of Menomonie and Katie and Matthew Erdman both of Eau Claire; two step grandchildren; Ross and Kim Proctor both of Eau Claire; one great-grandson Cody Forcier of Menomonie; five nieces and two nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Leo in 1974, a granddaughter, Aimee Forcier; a brother, Frederick Johnson and a sister, Jeannette Andrews.\r\nCorinne was an energetic, fun loving person and an enthusiastic Packer fan. She was a devoted wife and mother, and always a loyal supporter of her grandchildren's endeavors. Corinne has been greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. James M. Savides officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\nThe Family requests memorials be directed to First Congregational Church, The American Cancer Society, The Friends of Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation orWisconsin Special Olympics.
