Obituary

CORINNE B. UECKE, 92, formerly of 1011 State St., died Friday, January 5, 2001 at Dove Health Care Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on June 23, 1908 in Eau Claire to Walter and Ella (Patterson) Kneeland. Following graduation from Eau Claire Senior High School Corinne attended McPhail Music Conservatory in Minneapolis. Returning to Eau Claire she purchased a piano shop and gave private lesson. She was an accomplished pianist.\r\nCorinne married Frederick C. Uecke in Dubuque, Iowa on July 8, 1952. They resided in Eau Claire where they were very active with the Chippewa Valley Historical Society. Fred and Corinne were volunteer workers in the preservation of Eau Claire's historic past. They were very instrumental in the restoration of the Schlegelmich-McDaniel House, and were owners and residents of the "Cobblestone House" on State Street until moving due to illness. Corinne and Fred were also great antique collectors.\r\nCorinne was elected to the Eau Claire County Board from 1982 to 1991. She was a member of the Auxiliary for the County Nursing Home for many years. Corinne was a member of Christ Church Cathedral. \r\nShe is survived by her brother-in-law, Earl Uecke of Lake Tomahawk, WI. and several nieces and nephews; and family friend, Ralph Hudson.\r\nCorinne was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1983; and a cousin, Mary J. Baker in 2000. \r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Church Cathedral with The Very Rev. H. Scott Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home.\r\nPlease direct memorials to the Chippewa Valley Museum.
