Dan W. Gibson, 72, of Elk Mound, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012, at his home with his family. He was born on May 1, 1939, to Guy and Rhoda (Lee) Gibson. He attended and graduated from Elk Mound High School with the Class of 1957. After graduating from high school Dan joined the Army National Guard. On October 24, 1959, Dan married Sharon Schaefer, and together they had three children. He worked at various jobs including, Peter's Meats, farming with his father, selling insurance and as a heavy equipment operator for Alpine Landscaping. Dan really enjoyed running a dozer where he picked up the nickname "Dozer Dan". He later joined the Operating Engineers, Local 139. After Dan retired from driving dozer, he went to work for Conrad's Auto Salvage delivering parts. On April 23, 2010, Dan married Dianna Hompe. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. Dan is survived by his wife, Dianna; three children, James (Jamie Sweeney) Gibson, Russell (Julie) Gibson, all of Eau Claire, and Jodi (Andy) Chappell of Boise, ID; six grandchildren, Ryan, Trisha, Jamie, Alice, Olivia and Tabitha; two great-grandchildren, Daython and Brenna; one brother Sam (Donna) Gibson of St. Paul, MN; Sharon Gibson of Eau Claire; one sister-in-law, Loretta Gibson; and also by many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Tom Gibson; and one sister, Marion (Richard) Duesterbeck. Funeral Services will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. Clairemont Avenue, in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4-7p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, and again one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
