Daniel B.\r\nOlson, 62, of Eau Claire, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012, after a hard struggle with cancer. He was born in Eau Claire on December 1, 1949, to Kenneth B. and Marie (Ruppert) Olson. He graduated from Regis High School in 1968, and then went on to vocational school for sheet metal. On November 11, 1972, he married Debra Trzebiatowski at St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire, and they have been inseparable since. After school, Dan was in the National Guard, and worked briefly in sheet metal and also for Wisco Signs for a time. The majority of his life was devoted to Ken Olson Well Drilling, the family business. He worked and learned from his dad, Ken, and then with his brother, Darrell. Dan and Deb eventually owned the business and proudly brought their sons, Kevin and Paul, into it as well. Throughout his life, Dan worked with and for many wonderful people, and was proud and honored to do so. Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always laughing and telling jokes. When Dan laughed it was infectious. He enjoyed fishing and took some memorable trips with friends and family. He was also an excellent card player. No one could count a hand of cribbage as fast or accurately as him. Dan also enjoyed spending time at the cabin on Lake Pulaski where he and Deb loved to entertain those close to them, especially their granddaughters. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Deb; sons, Kevin (Joni) and Paul; grandchildren, Molly and Libby, all of Eau Claire; brothers, Richard (Shirley) and Darrell (Kathy), both of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Marie and a brother, Roger "Dutch". Mass of Christian Burial for Daniel will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St., in Eau Claire, with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday, January 23, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL, 1405 N. CLAIREMONT, Eau Claire, and also one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, WI. In lieu of\r\nflowers, the family has requested memorials be directed to family wishes. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Joseph's Hospice Staff for their wonderful care and support for Dan and family.
