On Thursday, June 21st 2012, Daniel Robertson, age 81 years, 9 months, and 10 days died peacefully in Eau Claire, WI. Daniel Floyd Robertson was born on September 11, 1930, in Eau Claire, the son of Catherine (McManus) and Victor T. Robertson. He graduated from Saint Patrick's High School in 1949, and attended Saint Martin's College in Olympia, Washington on a football scholarship. In 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army and served stateside with the 10th Infantry Division. He married Joyce Lettner on September 19th, 1953, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. He finished his military enlistment at Camp McCoy in Sparta, WI in September of 1954, and they returned to Eau Claire. Four children were born into this family: Sue Ellen, Mary Carol, Paul and Janet. Dan then attended college at Wisconsin State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1957. Dan worked for Gillette's, which then became US Rubber, later known as Uniroyal, where he became the supervisor of the Shipping Department, working in this capacity until his retirement on 1988. Surviving are his children, Sue Ellen Robertson of Viola, WI, Paul (Carol) of Eau Claire, Janet (Lance) of Oronoco, MN; grandchildren, Jason, Mariah, Lara Rose (Dan), Jamison, Josie, Melanie and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Jorden, Jonathen, Justen, Mason and Olivia. Dan is further survived by his brothers and sister, Tom (Eileen) Robertson, Victor Robertson, Mary Alice (Tom) Maloney, his wife's siblings, Richard Lettner, sister-in-law Phyllis Lettner, Jean Lettner, Mary Lou (Joe) Paurazas, and Carol (Ray) Krizmanic. He is also survived by his special friend, JoAnn Dolce, and his life long friend, John Boley. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, to whom he was married for 57 years. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Carol Peterson, and his grandson, Axel Johnson, both in 2009. Dan valued his family and took pride in their accomplishments. He especially treasured the many hours spent in the woods with his son, Paul. He enjoyed a wide variety of activities with his friends over the years, including hunting, ice fishing and his daily card games. He was an avid sports fan, following his favorite Wisconsin teams. He loved a good meal, and looked forward to his wife's traditional and most favored dinners with all the family around the table. Visitation will be held at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire, on Sunday, June 24th, 2012, from 4 to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Monday, June 25th, 2012, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Altoona, where Joyce and Dan have been members for 54 years. Monsignor Edmund Klimek will officiate. Internment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire.
