Danny W. Heuer, 49, of La Crosse died Friday, July 19, 2002 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. He was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on August 3, 1952, the son of Harvey and Beatrice (Gullickson) Heuer. Danny was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He graduated from Memorial High in Eau Claire with the class of 1970. \r\nDanny married Barbara Bakalars in La Crosse on September 16, 1995.\r\nHe was an Avionics Technician for four years in the U.S. Navy, a journeyman for C&R Stocks, and a substation specialist for 15 years with Dairyland Power Cooperative.\r\nDanny loved his family. He enjoyed family activities, get togethers, and especially hunting with his family and friends. He was a master marksman and taught his sons to enjoy nature and the sport of hunting. Dan was a true humanitarian, willing to put himself in danger without thought as he saved a fellow worker from burning to death after being electrocuted. Dan was presented with an award for this humanitarian effort. \r\nHe will be remembered for his compassion for others, love for his family, and a remarkable sense of humor.\r\nDanny his survived by his wife, Barb; two sons, Alex and Paul and their mother, Torrey Ostrem of La Crosse; step-daughter, Jamie Lynn and step-son Matthew Johnson both of La Crosse; his parents, Harvey and Beatrice Heuer; two brothers, Gary (Sheryl) and David; and his sister, Kathy (Gordon) Radle all of Eau Claire; and four nieces and one nephew.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his brother, James.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Gary F. Sahs officiating where VFW Post #305 will conduct military honor rites. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services on Wednesday.
