Obituary

Darleen Yvonne Marko, age 66, of the Town of Hallie, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 27, 2001. She was born in Eau Claire on September 29, 1934 to Otto and Elva (Hulett) Ladwig at Sacred Heart Hospital. \r\nDarleen was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Eau Claire and received her Christian Baptism on October 21, 1934 and Christian Confirmation there. She graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1952 and went on to graduate from Eau Claire Vocational School. \r\nDarleen married Roland E. Marko on September 12, 1955 at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls. They have lived in the Town of Hallie area since 1957. \r\nHer employment included: Langes Wholesale, Farmers Store, Montgomery Wards, Woodward Avenue Grocery and she retired from Mason Shoe Co. in May of 1991. After retirement, Darleen enjoyed a part-time coordinator position with Chippewa Trails until October 1999, when she left their employment due to Cancer.\r\nShe was actively involved with UCT until the time of her illness. She held numerous officer positions and recently was bestowed with the honor of "Past Grand Counselor."\r\nDarleen is survived by her husband, Roland; sons, Timothy (Kathy) Marko of Altoona, and Jeffrey Marko of Town of Hallie; five grandchildren, Anthony (Nikki Licht) and Andrea both of Town of Hallie, and Jessica, Kristina, and Joshua Marko of Altoona; a great-grandson, Jared Licht Marko; three sisters, Dorothy (Darold) Patrow of Altoona, Amy Ladwig, and Gloria Mallett both of Eau Claire; four brothers-in-law, Myron, John Jr. and Gerald of Chippewa Falls, and Francis (Betty) Marko of Beloit; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Marko of Chippewa Falls; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Louis Paulsrud, and Clarence Mallet.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2001 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Ned S. Lenhart officiating. Eternal Interment will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
