Darlene A. Sauer, 56, of Eau Claire died Monday, November 24, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield as a result of an automobile accident. She was born in West Bend, Wisconsin on July 22, 1952, a daughter of Arthur and Annabelle (Hefter) Sauer.\r\nShe lived with her family "down home" in Kewaskum until moving with her family to Thorp in 1966. She was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barton where she attended first through third grades. She was confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic church in Newburg where she graduated from eighth grade. Darlene took pride in singing in the choir and graduated from Thorp High School with the class of 1970; of which she planned and organized all class reunions.\r\nDarlene was always a hard worker and spent the last several years working with L.L. Stewart Real Estate. She was an avid card player who loved playing sheepshead, rummy and 500 with family and friends. She loved dancing to the golden oldies, especially Neil Diamond. She treasured the simple joys of life and being surrounded by family, friends&laughter. People could always count on Darlene for sound advice and wisdom. She endured many hardships yet was always positive and lived her life to the fullest. \r\nDarlene prided herself in the values instilled by her parents by passing them on to her children, who she loved with all her heart. She achieved her main goal in life by seeing them mature into strong, upstanding adults with a strong devotion to family.\r\nDarlene is survived by her fiancé, LaVerne L. Stewart of Eau Claire; her parents, Arthur and Annabelle Sauer of Thorp; four children, David Hodorowski of Brooklyn, NY; Neil Hodorowski of Eau Claire; Steven Hodorowski of Mpls, MN, and Heidi Hodorowski also of Mpls, MN; her grandson, Everett Arthur Phillip Hodorowski of Eau Claire; three sisters, Carol (Dennis) Hedler of Wasilla, AK; Patricia Raven of Hayward; Elaine (Frank) Horn of Thorp; two brothers, Mike Sauer and Jeffrey (April) Sauer both of Thorp; many nieces, nephews, and her beloved godchildren.\r\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St., Eau Claire with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. There will be a 7:30 p.m. Public Prayer Service Friday at the funeral home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers family requests memorials be directed to the Bolton Refuge House, PO Box 482, Eau Claire, WI 54702.\r\n
