Darrel E. Peterson passed away peacefully at home, while on in-home hospice care, on June 10, 2023. Darrel was born on October 4, 1963, in Eau Claire, to Gary and Pearl "Sharon" Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Ev. Lutheran Church. He grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from Memorial High School., class of 1982. One of Darrel's skills was his uncanny ability to talk and become friends with anyone. He was Store Manager for Auto Value for several years, while it was located on S. Hastings Way in Eau Claire and transitioned to a Paint Specialist later in his career. Darrel married the love of his life, Virginia "Ginny" Ming, on October 22, 1983, at Concordia Ev. Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wi. They raised two children, daughter Ashley and son Kyle. Darrel was a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed golf, deer hunting, the annual canoe & camping trip, card games and having fun with people with his awesome sense of humor. He also had an unwavering passion for classic Rock music. Darrel is survived by daughter Ashley Peterson; son Kyle (Moriah) Peterson; his parents, Gary and Sharon Peterson; five grandchildren - Rylan, Gavin and Emily Rohrssen, Jordy Brady, and Kyle Peterson II; sister DeLayne Peterson; brothers David (Shelly) and Dustin (Jodi) Peterson; brother-in-law Mike (Mary) Ming; step-mother-in-law Judy Ming; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Peterson in 2019, sister-in-law Louise Ming, mother-in-law Jean Ming, father-in-law-LeRoy Ming, grandparents, and beloved dog Reggie White Peterson. Darrel's family would like to extend a special thanks to Mayo Hospice personnel (Frances, Miranda and Tom), in-home care-givers, the clergy for their visits, and family and friends who aided with Darrel's care over the past several months. A memorial service for Darrel will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 1st at Concordia Ev. Lutheran Church, 3715 London Road, Eau Claire, WI with Pastor Joel Neumann and Pastor Fred Theiste officiating. Visitation will occur from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire, WI. Arrangements were entrusted to Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services in Eau Claire.
