Obituary

David F. Boetcher, 70, of Eau Claire, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Care Partners Assisted Living under the care of Northwest Hospice. \r\nHe was born in Eau Claire, WI on August 14, 1938, a son of Herman W. and Evelyn W. (Ringhand) Boetcher. \r\nDavid served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963.\r\nDavid married Diane R. Blakeley on April 1, 1961, in Eau Claire, WI.\r\nHe worked most of his life as an over-the-road truck driver working for Diamond and ANR Advance Trucking. Following his trucking career, he worked as a custodian at UWEC until retiring in 2005\r\nHe was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, and VFW Post #305, and the Tin Can Sailors.\r\nDavid is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane; son, David Boetcher II and his daughter Gabrielle Boetcher; daughter, Dorothy Atlas and her son Todd; daughter, Bethany (John) Ellingson and children, Madalyn, Annelise, and Tate; two sisters, Doloros Harris of Eau Claire, and Gladys Lokken of Kissimmee, FL; father-in-law, Everett Blakeley, Sr. and brother-in-law, Everett (Marty) Blakeley, Jr.; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Erik Boetcher; mother-in-law, Beverly Blakeley; and his siblings, Francis H. Boetcher, Dorothy Fotland, and Adeline Michels. \r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire with Rev. Cathy Hamblin officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by VFW Post #305 will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of services Tuesday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\n
