Obituary

David E. Brown, 69, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at his residence. He was born on April 18, 1932 to Victor and Hilda (Hanson) Brown in Eau Claire.\r\nDavid served in the U.S Army from July 29, 1949 until his honorable discharge on September 20, 1952. He was an infantryman during the Korean War. His medals included the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. \r\nHe married Carol J. Eades on November 12, 1955 in Milwaukee. \r\nDavid was self-employed as a salesman throughout his life in various states before returning to Eau Claire in 1992. He retired in 1994.\r\nHe was a member of V.F.W. Post # 7232 and American Legion Post #53.\r\nSurvivors include his wife Carol; their four children, Ron (Elizabeth) of Mesa, AZ, Randy (Kristi) of Eau Claire, Renee (Dan) Hays of Eau Claire, and Rachele (David) Custer of Augusta; thirteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Garfield (Rosemary) of Eau Claire; a sister, Virginia Campbell of New Brighton, MN; and a sister-in-law, Irene Brown of Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ricky; a brother, Clifford and a brother-in-law, Valmer Campbell\r\nFuneral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-LinnFuneral Home, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
