DAVID S. HATLOY, 65, of 2247 Eliza Wilson Rd., rural Eau Claire died Friday, October 9, 1998 at Luther Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1933 in Mpls., MN, to Magnus and Martha (Sterud) Hatloy. He moved with his family ot Drayton,ND at the age of fourteen where his family farmed. He received his electrical engineering degree from North Dakota State University in Fargo,ND, in 1962.\r\nDavid married Sharon Kofoid on June 23, 1963 in Bottineau,ND. Sharon died in 1992.\r\nHe entered the U.S. Navy in 1952, transferred to the active reserves in 1956, and served until his honorable discharge in 1993 with the rank of CWO-4.\r\nDavid worked 22 years for the USDA as an electrical engineer with the Rural Electrical Administration and resided in Alexandria,VA, until his retirement in 1996.\r\nHe married Anne L. McManus in Alexandria,VA, on August 14, 1997.\r\nDavid was a member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound, Masonic Lodge in Alexandria,VA, Elks Lodge #503, American Legion Post #53 and VFW Post #305. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Anne; two sons, Mark (Janell) Hatloy of Drayton, ND, and Matthew (Georgia) Hatloy of Reston,VA; a grandson, Hunter Hatloy of Reston,VA; a sister, Karen (William) Stephenson of Garden Grove,CA; two stepsons Ken (Joanne) McManus of Troutdale,OR, and Greg (Kim) McManus of Cascade Locks,OR; two step- daughters, Darla (Gay) Melvin of Dufur,OR, and Diane (Bob) Blake of Canyon City,OR; many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sharon.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home with Pastor Dean C. Brockmeier officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Mpls,MN, with military graveside rites at noon on Tuesday.
