David E. Schleusner, 62, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at his home. He was born in Eau Claire on September 18, 1947, a son of Edwin and Ruth (Cartwright) Schleusner. He attended school at St. James, Regis and then graduated from Memorial High School. \r\nHe entered the U.S. Army on July 13, 1967. He was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged on July 11, 1969. \r\nDavid graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College with a degree in accounting. He then worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Eau Claire office. David became the business manager at Dunn County Healthcare Center in 1979, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. \r\nDavid was a member of Westgate Sportsman Club, the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Assoc., and a lifetime member of Eau Claire Archers. He served as President of the Indianhead CB'ers Club, and as Treasurer of the Indianhead Four Wheelers Club.\r\nDavid had many hobbies, interests and passions. He enjoyed riding his Harley, and watching every NASCAR race. He loved spending time with Vicki at their cabin up north where he hunted, fished, and enjoyed his greatest passion; watching the animals enjoy the rewards of his hard work on the food plot. He passed these interests onto his children and grandchildren, and took great pride in hearing of their success.\r\nDavid is survived by his wife, Vicki; two sons, Gene (Deanna) Schleusner and their two children Alexis and Mitchell, and Grant (Katrina) Schleusner and their three children, Kassandra, Britni, and Carter, all of Eau Claire; two stepsons, Corey (Jessica) Kitchner of Menomonie and their five children, Kennedy, Bailey, Chelsi, Garrett, and Cooper, and Clay Kitchner of Elmwood; his brother, Dale Schleusner of MN; two sisters, Geri Sleep and Darlene (Richard) Bell of Eau Claire; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joan Schleusner; and a great nephew, Nicholas Stark.\r\nA gathering time to celebrate David's life will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, at Westgate Sportsman Club, 4909 Sportsman Dr, Eau Claire. \r\nIn lieu of flowers his family requests memorials be directed to the donor's choice.
