Dawn Renee (Patty) Way

EAU CLAIRE, WI- Dawn Renee Way, 51, passed away on Tuesday September 24, 2024, in Eau Claire, WI. Although Dawn had complicated health issues, her death was unexpected.  Dawn was born in Park Ridge, IL on April 10, 1973 to James E. Patty and Mary J. Leach (Helmuth).

Dawn graduated in 1991 from Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School and pursued her passion for helping others feel beautiful at Midstate Technical College, specializing in Cosmetology.  Growing up in the 80's generation of Aqua Net, Dawn was proudly entertained to see her big hair senior photo go viral on numerous social media highlights.

As well as cosmetology, Dawn dedicated a career of service from 1998 through 2016 to the United States Post Office, where she worked in both Wisconsin Rapids and Eau Claire.

Known for her love of animals, she had a particularly soft spot for every kitten, puppy, and pet she encountered.  She was talked out of keeping a pack of baby raccoons that had nested in her basement. Dawn dog sat for several families in the Eau Claire area and loved each pet as her own.

Dawn is survived by her mother, Mary Leach; her sister, Cheryl Kelly; and brother-in-law, Keith Kelly, brothers James Patty, Christopher Patty, and Tom Patty.  Dawn was preceded in death by her father, James Patty, and her stepfather, Wendell Leach.  Dawn also leaves behind many special Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins her three beloved cats, Bella, Skyla, and Halo.

A private service will be held in her memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Eau Claire County Humane Society, honoring Dawn's love for animals.
