Dena P. McAfee, 58, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at her home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice. \r\nShe was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 26, 1950, the daughter of Dr. George D. and Ardis (Nelson) McAfee. She graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School and attained a B.S. in Hearing&Speech Science at Colorado State University. She went on to earn a Masters Degree in Speech Therapy from Case Western in Cleveland, Ohio. \r\nDena worked as director of speech pathology at a Washington D.C. Hospital before moving to Canada where she continued to work in speech pathology. Later she moved back to Eau Claire to help care for her mother.\r\nShe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nDena is survived by her mother, Ardis; a niece, Alison; an aunt, Alma; several cousins; and many close friends. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her father, George; and two sisters, Mary and Joan.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Saturday, at the church.
