Diane Rose Boglitsch (née Wegrzyn), 78, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born on November 21, 1947, in Chicago, Diane was the daughter of Casey and Frances (Szczesniak) Wegrzyn. She spent much of her life in the Chicago area, where she was employed by various businesses and organizations throughout her career.

Diane will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter, Sharon Besterfeldt (Tim Wavrunek); her grandson, Cade Bessinger; her nephew, Richard Arens; and many cousins and extended family members.

A lifelong learner, Diane had an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. She was a voracious reader, with Stephen King among her favorite authors. She followed politics closely and rarely missed an opportunity to read the newspaper and stay informed about current events. Diane enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles and faithfully watched Jeopardy! She was also an avid fan of true crime documentaries and enjoyed spending time watching game shows. Her love for animals was evident throughout her life, especially her affection for cats.

Diane was preceded in death by her father, Casey Wegrzyn, in 1987; her husband, James Boglitsch, in 1995; her sister, Patricia Arens, in 1998; her mother, Frances Wegrzyn, in 2004; and her brother, Paul Wegrzyn, in March 2026.

Throughout her life, Diane faced many hardships and losses with remarkable resilience and strength, even when she didn’t recognize her own strength. Her determination, independence, and perseverance carried her through difficult times and left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She will be remembered for her intelligence, curiosity, love of learning, and strength.

Though she is gone from our sight, Diane’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the countless moments they shared together.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2026 at St. Adalbert Cemetery (6800 N. Milwaukee Avenue), Niles, IL. Please Note: Please meet with the family at the cemetery office located in St. Adalbert Cemetery for instructions.
