Obituary

Diane J. Roberts, 62 of Eau Claire died peacefully Sunday, May 23, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Eau Claire on April 15, 1948, the daughter of Helmer and Geraldine (Huse) Olson.\r\nShe attended Memorial High School in Eau Claire.\r\nDiane married Dennis A. Roberts at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on May 15, 1965.\r\nShe was a lifelong and active member of First Lutheran Church.\r\nDiane enjoyed traveling with her family throughout the years and especially loved camping with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was hard-working and spent many days side by side with her husband on remodeling projects, not only for themselves, but for countless others as well. If she wasn't with her grandchildren she was likely shopping for them. She also loved planting flowers, impatiens in particular, in her planters and around the house. Diane enjoyed canning dill pickles (which have been documented as the "best" pickles in town) , an occasional trip to the casino with family and friends, and volunteering at church. She was a long-time Elvis Presley fan which her family often teased her about. \r\nMore than anything, Diane's greatest joy in life, was her family. Her kindness, gentleness and selflessness touched many. We will always remember her as a loving wife, mom, daughter, and friend who always went out of her way to help in any way she could. We will love and miss you always!\r\nA wife, a mother, a grandma too, This is the legacy we have from you. You taught us love and how to fight, You gave us strength, you gave us might. A stronger person would be hard to find, And in your heart, you were always kind. You fought for us all in one way or another, Not just as a wife not just as a mother. For all of us you gave your best, Now the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you've earned your sleep, Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep\r\nDiane is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dennis; son, Joel (Janine) Roberts of Eau Claire and grandson, Seth Roberts; daughter, Jodie (Mark) Cronin of Neenah and four granddaughters, Sarah (Ben) Hundt of Eau Claire, Samantha, Emily, and Haley Cronin all of Neenah; a great grandson, Jack Hundt; her mother, Geraldine Olson of Eau Claire; brother-in-law, Wayne Geissler of Eau Claire; her aunt, Alice Huse of Chippewa Falls; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her father Helmer Olson; her sister, Donna Geissler; and sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Stewart.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
