Obituary

Dolly V. Walker, 89, of Hayward and formerly of Eau Claire, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at her home in Care Partners Assisted Living with her daughters by her side.\r\nDolly was born in Duluth, MN, on July 1, 1919, a daughter of Adolph and Marie (Hendrickson) Nord. She was confirmed on August 27, 1933.\r\nShe graduated from Greenway State High School in Coleraine, MN on June 10, 1937. After high school she attended Beauticians School in Duluth, MN. Dolly worked as a beautician in Menomonie, WI in a shop owned by Mrs. Vera Riley. Later she worked as a beautician in Eau Claire.\r\nDolly married Arnold S. Walker on July 8, 1940, in Decorah, IA. Arnold and Dolly enjoyed traveling with their daughters and later by bus tours in their retirement years. They spent 62 years of marriage together, all in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was a member of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nDolly's was an avid knitter, enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, sewing, cooking, and especially baking Christmas cookies.\r\nDolly is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Burdick of Elk River, MN and Donna Neuman of Hayward; two granddaughters, Rachel Leland of Eau Claire and Stephanie (Brett) Tischler of San Diego, CA; a great grandson, Levi Leland of Eau Claire; and many nieces, and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold in 2002; her parents; sister, Florence Parish; brother, Leo Nord; her guardian, May Palmer, and by her aunts and uncles.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at First Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Jennifer Elmquist officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral&Cremation Services is serving her family.\r\nThe family would like to offer special thanks for the loving care given to Dolly by the caring staff of Care Partners Assisted Living of Hayward. Also to Marge Thompson who cared for Dolly while she lived at her home in Eau Claire.\r\nFamily requests memorials be given to Regional Hospice of Hayward, 15910 W Company Lake Rd., Hayward, WI 54843 or to the Alzheimer's Association of Hayward, 15856 5th St., Hayward, WI 54843.\r\n
