Dolores C. Leser, 90, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Dove Healthcare South. Dolores was born on June 1, 1926, in Eau Claire, WI to John and Catherine (Shermock) Fischer. She married George Leser on August 4, 1956, in Eau Claire at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dolores attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1945. She attended college at the Eau Claire State Teachers College (University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire), graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Physical Education and a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, she moved to Ellsworth, WI, where she taught biology and physical education at Ellsworth High School from 1949 to 1956. Her enthusiasm for teaching never waned, and after raising her family, she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher, giving many years of service. Dolores was very athletic and enjoyed playing golf, tennis, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and water skiing. Her enthusiasm for sports extended to coaching grade school and high school girls' basketball and refereeing basketball and volleyball. With her family, she enjoyed camping, fishing, and family vacations. Dolores also enjoyed tending to her dahlia gardens and playing cards with her friends. Dolores was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was very involved as a member of St. Ann's Society and enjoyed being an usher and assisting with the planning of the annual church bazaar. She also was involved with the Eau Claire Catholic Women's Club. Dolores is survived by her loving husband, George; children, George Leser of Key Biscayne, FL and Catherine (John Manning) Leser of Nashville, TN; a brother, Hubert (Patricia) Fischer of Eau Claire, WI; a niece; four nephews; other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norbert Fischer; and sister-in-law, Irene Fischer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on January 23, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 416 N. Dewey Street, Eau Claire, with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will be held from 12-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2017 with a Rosary Vigil beginning at 3 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
