Donald E. Bremmer, 84, of 2114 Orchard Place, Eau Claire, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at his residence. He was born on February 18, 1918, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the son of Harlo and Beatrice (Francis) Bremmer. He attended Stevens Point High School and 2 years of college at Central State Teachers College, now known as the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. He was very active in sports, playing football, basketball, baseball and softball.\r\nDon worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for 40 years in Ashland, Eau Claire, Hudson and Milwaukee, retiring as plant manager in 1980.\r\nDon married Marcella Klingbiel of Eau Claire in 1941. They had 3 children, a daughter, Beatrice, and two sons, Gary and Jan. Marcella preceded him in death in 1983. In 1984, he married Lois Schneider. She preceded him in death in 1990. In the fall of 1990, he married Ruth Lehman.\r\nDon was an avid golfer and served on the Board of Directors at Hillcrest Golf&Country Club from 1987 to 1990. He was a 52 year member of Sanctuary Lodge 347 F&AM, and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire.\r\nDon is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Beatrice (Michael) Candell, of Eau Claire; two sons, Gary (Jane) of Sussex and Jan (Lynda) of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Bremmer of Amherst, and Janet Bremmer of Menasha; and several cousins.\r\nHe was also preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Rex and Francis.\r\nA memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Friends may call an hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. A private family committal service will be held Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be directed to the Hillcrest Golf&Country Club Memorial Fund, or Northwest Wisconsin Homecare Hospice.
