Donald L. Devney, 65, of Eau Claire, died Monday, October 23, 2006, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on August 27, 1941, to Francis and Dolores (Burns) Devney in Duluth, MN.\r\nHe graduated from Eau Claire Regis High School in 1959. Don was a courier for Bentley Courier Services and also a tour bus driver for Northern Bus Lines, Dunham Express, and Country Coaches until his retirement in 1997.\r\nDon joined the U.S. Navy on June 23, 1960, and received an honorable medical discharge after serving for two months on August 30, 1960.\r\nDon married Gail J. Heuer on October 15, 1977, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was a lifetime member of the Good Sam Travel Club.\r\nDon's favorite pass time was camping in his motor home. He was proud to be the son of his Gold Star Mother, Dolores. He also cherished the memory of his late brother, James "Skip" Devney, who died in Vietnam and also his father Frank, who died in a group home fire in 1983.\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Gail; his mother, Dolores Devney of Eau Claire; and several cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his father, Francis; and a brother, James.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father William A. Dhein celebrating the Mass. Burial with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #53 will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a public vigil service at 6:30 p.m., at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service Friday at church.\r\n
