Obituary

Donald "Don" Joseph Schwieters, 79, of Chippewa Falls, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023 at The Chippewa Manor. Don was born in Elmhurst, IL on September 9, 1944, a son to Boniface and Verena (Welle) Schwieters. Don is a graduate of McDonell Central Catholic High School. Class of 1963. Don has a degree in Designer of Engineering Systems and Architects, Professional Engineers, Designers and Land Surveyors. He enjoyed his field of study and taught several continuing educational classes, in this field. Don worked in La Crosse and Eau Claire at various HVAC businesses. He owned American Supply in the "80" and Dons Designs of USA LLC in the 2000's. Don retired March of 2020. Don was a member of the Home Builders Association, Indianhead Car Club and Chippewa Falls Senior Center. Don was a very spiritual man who attended services at several local churches. He volunteered at many events, and was the neighbor to lend a hand as needed. At age 68, Don started a senior exercise class for his fellow peers. " Howdy, Howdy, Howdy" was how Don entered a room or "I'm Here" with jazz hands and a raised eyebrow smile, was another great greeting. Don enjoyed being a dad and a grandpa. He was at their sports, parades, concerts, awards ceremonies...cheering with his loving energy and happy face. We all looked to see for him in the crowd. Don taught us how to use a hammer, classes on finances, playing his guitar and harmonica, how to fish, biking, going on family walks, camping, boating, travel, carpentry work, playing a good game of cards and checkers. Don was ok sitting on a bench, feeling the warmth of the sun, while enjoying the laughter around him of his family and friends Don also enjoyed music and dancing. We all enjoyed singing the verses with Don too.

Don is survived by his three children; Sally Foss of Larkollen, Norway, Jill Marie (Joe) Kelly, of Eau Claire and Jon (Dawn) Schwieters of Eau Claire. He is also survived by his four siblings; Clarice Jackson, Bonita (Gregg) Lewis, Carol (Bert) Richard and Michael (Jenny) Schwieters. Don also leaves behind five grandchildren; Kurt (Sydney) Schwieters, Josie Kelly, Brock (Jaiden) Schwieters, Emma Foss and Jaime Kelly.

Don was proceeded in death by his parents, Boniface and Verena and brother-in-law, Sam Jackson. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dons many nurses, doctors, Home Health of Mayo team, all personnel at the Chippewa Manor and the Mayo Clinic Hospice team.
