Obituary

Donald G. "Ronnie" Larson, 80, of 1517 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, WI. He was born March 25, 1926, in Pleasant Valley, WI to Lynn and Helen (Woodford) Larson.\r\nHe served in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He fought in "The Battle of the Bulge" in Germany with General Patton. He was among the first U.S. soldiers to help liberate prisoners of Dachau, Germany and other prison camps.\r\nOn April 10, 1948, he married Beverly Gust in Eau Claire. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year. \r\nHe worked for U.S. Rubber Co., Peterson Pies, and Pope and Talbot retiring from the paper mill after 37 years of service in 1988. Ron enjoyed being a "Mr. Fix it". He and Beverly built their own family homestead from the basement up. He loved camping, growing flowers, gardening, feeding the animals and birds, and looked forward each year to wintering in the warm sun of Yuma, AZ and Misson, TX. He also enjoyed meeting new people and conversing with them. \r\nHe is survived by his wife, Beverly; five children, Cheryl (Richard) Putzy and Steven Larson both of Eau Claire, Dean (Nancy) Larson of Sheboygan Falls, Julie (Timothy) Piel of Sheboygan, and Jerry (Jennifer) Larson of Hartland; eleven grandchildren, Kevin and Craig Putzy of Eau Claire, Jason (Becky) Stewart of Oostburg, Matthew Larson of Sheboygan, Krystal Larson of Madison, Scott and Shane Piel of Sheboygan, Daniel, Bradly, Jaymz, and Alex of Hartland; three great grandchildren, Cody, Lucas, and Liam Stewart of Oostburg; a sister, Sonya Golden and sister-in-law, Donna Sly both of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, James Allen; and his sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Delbert Ziebell.\r\nHe will be sadly missed by his family. Until we meet again Gramps, we all love you and will carry you in our hearts forever!\r\nGraveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire with Pastor Paul D.L. Oppedahl officiating. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.\r\nThe family wishes to thank the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, staff at American Heritage Care Center, and Adoray Hospice for their wonderful care of our loved one.\r\n
