Obituary

Donald J. Schaaf, 75, of Eau Claire died Thursday, March 21, 2002 at Luther Hospital. He was born January 24, 1927 in Milwaukee to the late James and Verna (Kurtz) Schaaf. Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a foreman at Uniroyal until his retirement in 1985.\r\nHe was a member of VFW Post #305, American Legion Post #53 and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Chippewa Valley Aerie #2213.\r\nDon is survived by his wife, Lucille; a son, Jay; a daughter and son-in-law, Polly and David DeGrasse; a brother, Robert "Pink" and his wife Sylvia; four grandchildren, Brian and Danielle Schaaf, Mitchell and Max DeGrasse all of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Schaaf and sister, Betty Moore.\r\nPrivate memorial services were held today at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Rev. Eric G. Nielsen of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington where VFW Post #305 held military grave rites.
