IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald David
Schroer
July 7, 1959 – June 19, 2025
Don Schroer, of Eau Claire and River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away after a brief battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. Born on July 7, 1959, in Eau Claire to Vernon and Mac Schroer, Don spent most of his life in western Wisconsin, where he built a life rooted in family, friendship, and hard work.
Don dedicated his career to the manufacturing industry, working in a variety of roles throughout his adulthood. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
A true outdoorsman, Don was a "fisherman extraordinaire," always happiest with a rod in hand and a line in the water. He was also an avid golfer, achieving the rare and impressive feat of two holes-in-one.
His love for adventure extended to frequent trips to Las Vegas with friends, where he enjoyed the thrill of the casinos and the joy of shared experiences. Don's generosity and selflessness were evident in the many ways he supported those around him. Whether it was dog sitting, house sitting, giving rides, or simply being there when someone needed help, Don was always quick to step in. In the later years of his life, he provided devoted care for his mother during her illness, a testament to his deep love and loyalty to family.
He is survived by his siblings: Lee Annette (Mike Webb) of Roseville, CA; Mike Schroer of Lake Wissota; Dan Schroer (Sue Ellen) of Bloomington, MN; Toni (Gene Dewitz) of Fall Creek, WI; and Tom Schroer of Eau Claire, WI. He also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews: Michelle, Lynn, Sara, Kelly, Jennifer, and Jesse.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mac Schroer.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mayo Clinic for their compassionate care and support during Don's brief illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 12pm – 4pm at VFW Post 305, 1300 Starr Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
