Donald R. "Frito" Sly, 62, of the Village of Lake Hallie, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at his home. He was born in Eau Claire on September 4, 1947, the son of Raymond and Marlene (Ames) Sly. He graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School with the class of 1965. \r\nDon entered the U.S. Navy on July 9, 1965. He served on the USS Bryce Canyon stationed out of Long Beach, CA, and was honorably discharged on July 30, 1968.\r\nHe married Donna L. Zoll on December 12, 1972, in Chippewa Falls.\r\nDon worked over 20 years for Uniroyal until his medical retirement in 1988.\r\nHe enjoyed playing cribbage, cards, going to the casino, and was always up for a good conversation. His family has many memories of their hunting and fishing trips with Don at the cabin near Ingram, and spending special times with his granddaughters.\r\nDon is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, Dennis (Rebecca) Sly of Chippewa Falls, Louis (Teresa) Sly and their children Kassidy and Sierra of Chippewa Falls, and Gregory Sly of Lake Hallie; his mother, Marlene of Eau Claire; four sisters, Carol (Keith) Jorgensen, Jeri (Verlin) Eckwright, Darlene Manix, all of Eau Claire and Sharon (Wayne) Ouimet of Cornell; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dogs, Maggie and Sidney. \r\nHe is preceded in death by his father. \r\nMemorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Buckli officiating. Burial will be at Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Beaver Brook Township near Spooner, with military graveside honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire.
