Dora I. Ray, 87, of Eau Claire, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls. Dora was born on December 5, 1925, in Eau Claire, to Ewald and Minnie (Giles) Thalacker. She married Walter Ray on November 17, 1945, in Eau Claire. After marriage, they continued to live with Walter's mother on First Avenue for about two years. In 1947, they bought a house on Broadway Street, where she had resided for the past 66 years. Dora was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker to her family. She enjoyed knitting doll clothes and making crafts for craft shows and flea markets. Dora is survived by a son, John (Joanne) Ray of Chippewa Falls; granddaughter, Julie Ray, of El Copé, Panama; grandson, Jerry (Becky) Ray of Wesby; great-grandson, Jack Ray; two sisters; four brothers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and also by her kitty, Molly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Glen Ray; two sisters and three brothers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dora's niece, Nancy. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., in Eau Claire with Fr. Robert Hoekstra of the Chippewa Manor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington.
