Doris A. Bell, 94, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Doris was born in York, WI, on August 22, 1919, a daughter of Ole and Emma (Helwig) Hanson. She grew up in York and attended college at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, graduating with a teaching degree. Doris married Daniel K. Bell on November 4, 1939, in Eau Claire. She was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Eau Claire for the past 59 years. Doris enjoyed playing the piano (self-taught), bird watching, gardening, and was a master bridge player. Doris is survived by four daughters Mary Offerman of LaCrosse, WI, Susan (Bud) Benike of Richfield, MN, Kristine (John) Kempf of Eleva, WI, and Teresa Bell-Stone of Elk Mound, WI; one brother, Robert (Mavis) Hanson of Pigeon Falls, WI; seven grandchildren, Terri Vanderzee of Woodinville, WA, John (Janelle) Vanderzee of LaCrosse, WI, Kris Vanderzee of Onalaska, WI, Kathy (Dan) Kocher of Ham Lake, MN, Ken (Tina) Gladen of Mounds View, MN, Jim (Jennifer) Kempf of Canton, MI, and Rick (Shari) Kempf of Crystal Lake, IL; and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gretchen, Allison, Taylor, Mikayla, John Thomas, and Evan. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St. in Eau Claire, with Father Brian Konopa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass, Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is serving her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
