Dorothy "Dotty" M. Seichter, 73, of Eau Claire died Sunday, February 13, 2005, at her home after a brief battle with leukemia. She was born in the Town of Delmar near Boyd, Wisconsin on March 23, 1931, the daughter of Gustave and Elfreda (Zech) Keehn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Boyd.\r\nDorothy graduated Salutatorian from Cadott High School in 1949 and received her teaching certificate from Eau Claire Teachers College in 1951. She taught five years at the Victory and Chap Creek schools in Chippewa County.\r\nDorothy married Bernard W. Seichter on August 24, 1954, in Chippewa Falls. After raising her four children Dorothy worked at McDonald's on Craig Rd in Eau Claire for 29 years being one of two original employees.\r\nShe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church since 1956, being a member of Ruth Circle. Dorothy was a member of Letter Carrier's Auxiliary #829 having served on its board in many capacities. She served as a Cub Scout den mother, Bluebird leader, and was a volunteer at the Syverson Lutheran Home gift shop.\r\nSurvivors include her four children, Daniel (Bonnie) Seichter of Blaine, MN, Timothy (Kelly) Seichter of Monroe, Karen (Todd) Nelson of Eau Claire, and Jeanne (Mark) van Oosbree of Maple Grove, MN; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Caitlin, Theresa, Robert and Lindsay Seichter, Jonathan and Anna Nelson, Annika and Kees van Oosbree, and step granddaughter, Elizabeth Nelson; two brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Keehn of Ladysmith and Clayton Keehn of Clearwater, FL; sister, Jane Malison of Cupertino, CA; brothers-in-law, John (Mary Lee), Clarence (Geraldine), Jerome, and Richard Seichter, and Marvin Dierich; sisters-in-law, Lucille (Lawrence) Komro, Leona (Sylvan) Rothbauer, Delores Woychik, and Rosemary Horel; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard, in 1990; her brother, Kenneth Keehn; brother-in-law, Duane Malison; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Keehn, Marcella Schumacher, Irene Dierich, and infant Patricia Seichter.\r\nDorothy was a devoted Christian mother and grandmother who always put the needs of others first. She was a seasoned regular at her children's and grandchildren's activities. Her presence will be deeply missed.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Rolf A. Nestingen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. There will be a Letter Carrier's Auxiliary service 7:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.\r\n \r\n
