Dorothy J. Merrill, 82, of Eau Claire and formerly of Cadott, died Monday, August 14, 2006, at Dove Healthcare and Rehabilitation.\r\nShe was born in Menominee, Michigan on November 1, 1923, the daughter of S. Merritt and Inez (Mortensen) Sherman. Dorothy attended Grace Episcopal Church and was confirmed there on December 30, 1934.\r\nDorothy graduated from Menominee High School in 1941, and then attended nursing school at St. Barnabas Hospital in Mpls., graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1945. She was employed at Theda-Clark Hospital in Neenah, Luther Hospital and Uniroyal Tire Company, both in Eau Claire, Northern WI Center in Chippewa Falls and the Stanley Hospital in Stanley.\r\nDorothy married Herbert F. Merrill on June 22, 1946, in Menominee, MI. After his death she married John A. Pozarski on January 25, 1975, in Cadott.\r\nDorothy enjoyed music singing, playing piano and church organ. Her interests included attending concerts and theater, reading, baking, gardening, traveling, watching birds and a variety of handwork with needlepoint, knitting, quilting and sewing.\r\nShe was a member of Christ Church Cathedral's choir and Mother's Club in Eau Claire.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Robert (Jill) Merrill of Eau Claire; two daughters, Jean (David) Swoboda of Chippewa Falls and Mary (Daniel) Smith of Eau Claire; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Pelnar, Chad Merrill, Cory (Stacy) Smith, Kristy (Jake) Eckel, Becky Smith, Sue Ottum, Julie (Adam) Brown, and Ben Olson; seven great grandchildren, Erica, Chelsea, Nelia, Dejamae, Darrica, Kylie, and Alexandria; a brother, Robert Sherman; sister, Sallie Swanson; sister-in-law, Lois Rose; five step-children, Ron (Trish) Pozarski, Jerome (Paula) Pozarski, Joan (Ken) Ogren, Mike (Jan) Pozarski, and Pat Plant; twenty-one step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.\r\nDorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Herbert Merrill in 1961, and John Pozarski in 1985; a sister, Carol Anderson; three brothers-in-law, James Rose, Kenneth E. Anderson, and Richard Swanson; sister-in-law, Ethel Sherman; and a step-son, James Pozarski.\r\nFuneral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Christ Church Cathedral with The Very Rev. Bruce N. Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, WI. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.\r\n \r\n
