Dorothy A. Rader, 90, of Eau Claire, died Monday, July 23, 2018 in her sleep surrounded by her family at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. She was born in Waite Park, MN on January 30, 1928 the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Kaluza) Zellner. Dorothy married Robert J. Rader on June 9, 1951 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park, MN. She attended St. Benedict's in Collegeville, MN before becoming a teacher at Holy Trinity School in Rollingstone, MN and also at St. Anne's Elementary School in Escanaba, MI. Upon moving to Eau Claire in 1968, Dorothy began her lengthy career in the finance department for the City of Eau Claire until her retirement as financial supervisor in 1991. Following her retirement, Dorothy was involved in many volunteer activities, including preparation of taxes for elderly and working for the Alzheimer's Association. She enjoyed a wide range of activities with her husband Bob, including golfing, gardening and traveling to Europe and throughout the United States visiting family and friends. She was extremely proud of her children and instilled in them a strong belief that they could accomplish anything they desired to achieve. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Thomas (Susan), David (Gilma), and James (Susan); grandchildren, Jeffrey, Tracy, Jessica, Nicholas, Lucas, and Alex; one great-grandson, Jacob; one brother, Joseph (Annella) Zellner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sons, Joseph and Ronald, both of whom died shortly after birth; parents; and five brothers, Marcus, Raymond, Gene, Jerome, and Father Aubrey. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Avenue in Eau Claire. On Saturday, July 28, 2018 visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN beginning at 9:30 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with Father Chinappa officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Rollingstone, MN.
