Obituary

Dorothy Elizabeth (Hauptmann) Theisen, a resident of Dove Healthcare Center, age 92, died peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born to the late Frances (Kowalski) and August Hauptmann, Dec. 5, 1919, in Eau Claire, WI. Dorothy graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1937. She married the late Raymond J. Theisen in 1941. Her life was devoted to her faith, to her husband and children, to her mother and siblings, and to her friends. She had been an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and then Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing with her family and as a longstanding member of the choir. She was an accomplished seamstress. She loved "the cottage" and spent many summers there, inviting all of the family to join her whenever possible. Her family was the absolute focus of her life. She was the devoted mother of five surviving children, including Joseph R. Theisen (Fay), James W. Theisen (Mary), Rose M. Ghilardi (David), Donna M. Froseth (Chuck), and Jerome A. Theisen (Marlene). Two other children died at birth. She was the sole surviving member of her family of origin, including her parents and siblings, August Hauptmann (Hazel), Lawrence Hauptmann (Marcella), Mary Wahl (Bill), Joseph Hauptmann (Elsie, Irene), Marcella Johnson (Palmer), and Gertrude Hauptmann. She is survived by her grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Joseph Theisen (Kari), Jon Theisen (Jen), Michael Theisen (Desiree), Mark Theisen (Angie), Mitchell Theisen (Amy), Jeff Theisen, Lisa Papke (Lance), Jasen Theisen (Scott), Michelle St. Arnault (Greg), Kristi Corless (Tom), James Johnson (Chris), Jake Johnson (Jodie), Scott Froseth, Elizabeth Froseth (Pete), Amy Herlihy (Greg), Shannon Theisen, Leah Weinrich (Matt), Scott Christenson (Tisa), Kevin Christenson, Jake Ghilardi, Joe Ghilardi. She thoroughly enjoyed her great-grandchildren: Mary Ann, Evelyn, Jo Hannah, Esther, Joe, Grace, Henry, Gus, Quin, Gage, Emma, Fletcher, Jagger, Estelle, Everett, Ben, Claire, Grant, Alexis, Mitchell, Loretta, Ray, Alice, Nathan, Kendrick, Carsen, Kaden, LaRhea, Aidan, Alec, Cole, Levi, Camden, and Malakai. She is also survived by loving extended family, Betty Johnson (Jerome), Ethelyn Theisen (Bill), Carol Theisen (Charles), Homer Betts (Barb). Other deceased siblings of her husband, Ray, included Leo (Eleanore), Abbot Jerome Theisen, Eleanore (Jerry), Florence Ward (Jim), and Mary Helm (Fritz). She highly regarded her numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Her friends and neighbors from church, card club, choir, and other activities meant the world to her. Though in later years her physical health had caused forgetfulness, she would light up when reminded of the people in her life. She regularly ended a conversation with the words, "I love you" and "God bless you". The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the entire staff of Dove Healthcare Center for their vigilant loving kindness to Dorothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, Wisconsin with Father Eugene A. Klink. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM, up until the beginning of Mass, with a rosary recitation at 10:30. Prayers of interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Dove Healthcare's Activity Center, 1405 Truax Blvd., Eau Claire, WI 54703.
