Obituary

Douglas A. Heimstead, 87, of Eau Claire, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Presbyterian Homes in Arden Hills, MN.\r\nHe was born December 28, 1919, in Eau Claire, the son of Frank and Mable Heimstead.\r\nDouglas married Lynne Lantz on June 9, 1941 in Sidney, NB.\r\nDouglas retired after 31 years in the United States Air Force having the rank of Lt. Colonel.\r\nHe is survived by two sons, Douglas "Mike"(Judy) of Vadnais Heights, MN, and Franklin W. (Barbara) of Blaine, MN; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, William, and LaMoine (Mavis) both of Eau Claire; a sister, Irene of Eau Claire; and by many nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne; his infant son, Norman; his parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer; and a brother, James.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Russell Kampfer officiating. American Legion, Post #53 will conduct Military Rites following the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina Kansas. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home.
