Douglas "Bud" D. Olson, 81, of Eau Claire died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Luther Hospital. Doug was born in Eau Claire on April 30, 1928, a son of Victor and Louise (Goettlicker) Olson. \r\nHe graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1946.\r\nHe enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and was honorable discharged in 1950.\r\nDoug married Carol V. Hilson in Manhattan, NY, on February 9, 1948. \r\nHe worked 17 years at Uniroyal until his retirement.\r\nHe was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, and Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408 in Eau Claire. \r\nHe enjoyed wood working, and fishing and hunting at Bear Lake near Haugen. \r\nDoug is survived by his two sons, Michael (Cynthia) of Green Valley, AZ, and Rodney (Eileen) Olson of Superior; his daughter, Victoria (Joseph) Vinopal of Almena; six grandchildren, Bradley Olson of Chicago, Brian Olson of Sydney, Australia, Arin (Tobi) Olson of Wrenshall, MN, Cynthia (Brad) Hathaway of Superior, Daniel (Maggy) Vinopal of Chippewa Falls, and Gerald (Meghan) Vinopal of Hudson; five great grandchildren, Tyler and Trevin Olson, McKenzie Vinopal, Allyssa Vinopal, and Freya Hathaway; special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Carol in 2005; his parents; and his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Rich Bacon.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1120 Cedar St., Eau Claire with the Rev. Thomas W. Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services Monday at the church.
