Obituary

DOUGLAS V. ROGSTAD, 78, of 1211 Bellinger St., died January 18, 1998 at Luther Hospital. A lifetime resident of Eau Claire, he was born September 18, 1919 to Anton and Nellie (Skildun) Rogstad. \r\nHe graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1937. Doug served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in England and Germany during World War II. \r\nHe married Virginia Elsie Elbert , also of Eau Claire, on August 28, 1954.\r\nDoug was employed by Northwestern Motor Company, where he worked as a molder. He then was employed at Keller Tool as a machinist, for 15 years. He retired from Christopherson Patterns after 15 years of service in 1985. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and VFW Post #305. \r\nDoug was an avid fisherman, hunter and do-it-yourselfer. He could fix just about anything and enjoyed mounting deer horns, repairing antiques and making furniture.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Virginia; a sister, Ruby Brice of Eau Claire; nieces and nephews, Greg (Kathy) Brice, Dennis (Nancy) Brice, and Dana (Dennis) Knudtson all of Eau Claire, Roxanne (Mike) Beisel of Madison, Amy (Ted) Foster of Bloomington,IL, William Elbert of Virginia,MN, Stephen (Marilyn) Elbert of Darnestown,MD, Paul (Christine) Elbert of Jackson,MI, Janice Elbert of Chicago and James (Shannon) Elbert of Victoria, British Columbia.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nThe family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorials please be directed to Grace Lutheran Church for its Stained Glass Window Renovation.
