Duane D. Guite, 64, of Jim Falls, Chippewa County died Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Clairemont Nursing Home in Eau Claire. He was born September 4, 1940, in Cornell, Wisconsin, the son of Donald and Evelyn (Bunes) Guite. \r\nHe served six years in the U.S. Navy from January 1959 to December 1962, and from January 1963 until January 1965 during the Vietnam War era.\r\nDuane married Judy J. Haws on December 27, 1963, in La Mesa, California.\r\nHe worked for Rohr Aircraft in California until his retirement. Duane and Judy lived in Alpine, CA, prior to moving to Jim Falls in 1997.\r\nDuane is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Lary Guite of Lemon Grove, CA; daughter, Lesa (Brian) Gaither of El Cajon, CA; and four grandchildren, Christina, Shane and Amanda Gaither, and Audry Guite.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn McVicker.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2004, at Eau Claire Church of Christ, 1701 Goff Ave., Eau Claire, with Minister Bill Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery in the Village of Lake Hallie, where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military funeral rites. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
