Duane E. Morin, 82, of Eau Claire and formerly of White Bear Lake, MN, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Luther Hospital. He was born in Wahoo, Nebraska on March 14, 1923, the son of Earl and Esther (Lind) Morin.\r\nDuane married Betty Ann Knudsen on August 22, 1948, in Waverly, NE.\r\nOn March 4, 1943, Duane entered into the U.S. Army serving in World War II, where he was awarded a bronze star for his service in Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on February 1, 1946. \r\nHe worked 34 years as a chemical engineer for the 3M Company until his retirement in 1982.\r\nHe was an avid golfer and radio control airplane enthusiast.\r\nHe was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, and a former member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, MN where he had been active in the church choir.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Betty Ann; four children, Perrin (John) Baites of Hendersonville, TN, Charles Morin of Greeley, CO, William (Kathleen) Morin of Eau Claire, and David (Gretchen) Morin of Portage, MI, a brother, Lauren (Violet) Morin of Scottsdale, AZ; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Morin of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren, Christin Baites Kingsolver, Caroline Baites, Catherine Baites, John David Baites, Philip Baites, Katie Morin, Erik Morin, Jaclyn Morin, Kelly Morin, Kayla Morin and Sophie Morin; and two great grandchildren, Luke Kingsolver and Brenna Kingsolver.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Donald Morin.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, White Bear Lake, MN, with Pastor Stephen R. Mahan officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery where military rites will be held. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4000 Linden St., White Bear Lake, MN.
