E. Bernice Hauger, 93, of Eau Claire died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire. She was born December 29, 1915, near Eleva in Trempealeau County a daughter of Elmer T. and Bertha (Johnson) Thompson. Bernice married Robert "Bob" C. Hauger on August 31, 1940, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She worked in food services at Memorial High School for 24 years, retiring in 1980. Bernice was a member of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Survivors include her two sons, Richard (Linda), and James (Jane), both of Eau Claire; four granddaughters, Vicki (Steve) Stabenow, Julie Hauger, Jill (Ryan) Modl, and Jordyn Hauger, all of Eau Claire; three great-grandchildren, Lindsey Wangen, Kassandra Stabenow, and Jack Modl; two brothers, Merwyn (Verna) Thompson of Eugene, OR, and Adrian (Jeanette) Thompson of Rice Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1993, her parents, two brothers Edward and Charles Thompson; and her sister, Evelyn Skeels. Bernice's family extends their gratitude to the staffs of Community Health Partnership, Orchard Hills Assisted Living, Dove Healthcare, and Northwest Homecare Hospice for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving her family.
