Obituary

Earl F. Smith, 74, of Eau Claire died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born in Eau Claire on May 28, 1930, the son of Ac Frank and Diana (Miller) Smith. Earl received his education at St. Patrick's and later Eau Claire Vocational School.\r\nHe served in France and Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on March 4, 1955.\r\nEarl married Marjory A Lindbo at St. James Catholic Church in Eau Claire onJuly 12, 1958.\r\nEarl worked over thirty years at Land o' Lakes until retiring as a supervisor in 1987.\r\nHis family will remember how much he enjoyed camping, golf, and spending time with his grandchildren.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Marjory; four sons, Gary, Robert (Tammy), and William all of Eau Claire, and Gerald of Fallon, NV; eleven grandchildren, Alexandra, Zackery, Lydia, Amerie, Kevin, Nicholas, Ryan, Jim, Bill, Brandon, and Erin; two brothers, John (Doris) of Eau Claire and Harold (Gloria) of Stevens Point; two sisters, Joanne (Harold) Anders of Holcombe and Diane (Marvin) Heitkamp of Waterloo, IA; and sixteen nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John in 1986; and a sister, Betty Miles. \r\nMass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to St. James the Greater Catholic Church Building Fund, 2502 11th St. Eau Claire, WI 54703.
