EDGAR "ED" R. WIEDERRICH, 66, of 6790 Hwy 93, Eau Claire, died Tuesday, June 8,1999 at Sacred Heart Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 26, 1932 in Dickey County,ND, to Jacob and Theresia (Rougutt) Wiederrich where he grew up.\r\nEd entered U.S. Marine Corps on Nov. 15, 1951 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service, United Nations Service, Defense Service and Good Conduct Medals, and two Purple Heart Medals. He was honorably discharged in November 19, 1954. There is a marker and flag for Ed at the Veteran's Memorial in Cadott, with the inscription- "Look back at what you have achieved, not what you have gained."\r\nHe married Virginia Jacobs in Eau Claire on January 29, 1955. \r\nHe worked in the auto department at Montgomery Wards, then went into partnership at Madison St. Texaco. In 1966, Ed established Barstow Street Auto Service, Inc. which he continued to operate until his death.\r\nHe was a member of the Chippewa Valley Marine Club, VFW Post #305 and numerous wildlife organizations. Ed loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed working his hobby farm at home.\r\nSurvivors include, his companion of many years, Sylvia Kuester; three daughters, Kathleen Hanson of Richfield,MN, Tammy Zuehlke (Timothy), of Eau Claire, Penny Wiederrich of Cocoa,FL, and their mother, Virginia Wiederrich; three grandchildren, Jessie Wiederrich, Eric and Jayna Jackson all of Eau Claire; two brothers, Edwin (Eloise) of Portland,OR and Walter (Billie) of LaPine,OR; two sisters, Marie (Leonard) Vasvick of Ellendale,ND and Edna (Melvin) Ernst of Aberdeen,SD; many nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson Kyle Jackson; three brothers, August, Henry and John; four sisters, Elizabeth Teske, Alma Washburn, Anna Wiederrich and Olga Wiederrich.\r\nFuneral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lake Street Methodist Church with Rev. Richard G. Maser officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery with Marine Corps graveside rites. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.\r\n
