Edith M. Syth, 87, of Eau Claire, died on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. Edith was born to Joseph and Victoria Mattioda as one of nine children. Edith served three years in the Army where she met George. They were later married on April 11, 1953 in Chicago and were together for 63 years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling – including all fifty states and many countries, and playing cards, bridge being her favorite. Edith is survived by her husband, George; her daughter Jane (Wayne) Ward of Genesee, WI; and her granddaughters, Parker and Carson. She is preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St, Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Beaver Brook Township, WI.
