Edna Marie Faanes, 81, of Eau Claire, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health Hospital.She was born in Moorhead, MN on April 13, 1930, to Adelbert Austin and Ina Mae (Griffin) Felton. She attended Norseville School in Strum, WI. She worked at the Hotel Eau Claire where she met and later married Thorvald Faanes. Edna held many different jobs in the Eau Claire area before retiring from Luther Hospital.On October 12, 1951, Edna married Thorvald Faanes at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.She enjoyed flowers, bird watching, and traveling out west to visit her family. Edna loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and welcomed visitors. Her door was always open and the coffee pot never went dry.She is survived by her 7 loving daughters, Janet (Marvin) Thompson, Helen Faanes, Mary (Randy) Westerberg, Rose Faanes, Kim (Bob) Bauer, Diane (Rob) Thomas, and Pam Faanes; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; sisters, Almerta Ferdon and Leona Lichtenwalter; brother, Clyde (Phyllis) Felton Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thorvald; beloved son, John; brothers, Clyde Sr. and Ernest Felton; many in-laws; and her precious dog, Coco.She will be loved and dearly missed by her family.Funeral services will be at 1p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Lane, Eau Claire with Rev. Randy Olson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 16, 2011 and also one hour prior to the service.
