Edward G. Kaehler, 89, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Edward was born February 22, 1924, in Clayton, WI, the son of John and Charlotte (Harder) Kaehler. He graduated from Clayton High School with the class of 1942, and later attended vocational school in Eau Claire. Ed was a US Marine during WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre from September 1943 to December 25, 1945, at which time he was awarded a Purple Heart. He had worked at White Machine and later was employed at Walter Brewing Company in public relations. Edward married Charlotte A. Becker on June 25, 1950, in Eau Claire at Lake Street United Methodist Church, and would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary on Tuesday. He was a member of Lake Street United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts, Morning Optimist Club, Eau Claire Jaycees, life member of the American Legion Post 53 and a member VFW Post 305, and also was an equipment manager for Little League for over 20 years. Ed was an avid card player, and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, but he especially loved to ice fish, and he always took a lot of pride in his family. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; 6 children, Becky (Steve) Lasure of Eau Claire, Bill (Dee) of Green Bay, John (Dawn) of New Brighton, MN, Dennis (Debbie) of Eau Claire, Mark of New Auburn, and Kari of Eau Claire; 7 grandchildren, Amy (Gary) Brewton, Sara Lasure, Carly Harding, Katie (Mike) Skapyak, Brent Kaehler, Mindy Kaehler, and Andy Lasure; 3 great-grandsons, Henry, William and John Brewton; a sister, Mary Alice (Bob) Dickson of Clovis, CA; and also by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Henry, and, John; sisters, Clara Johnson, Sophie Place, Delores Timm, Dorothy Podany, Charlette Shaffer and Elizabeth Kaehler. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Lake Street United Methodist Church, with Pastor Scott Daniels officiating. Inurnment will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Beaver Brook Township with military honors. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
