Edward J. Para, 80, of Weyerhaeuser and formerly of Chicago and Eau Claire died Friday, January 9, 2004 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek. He was born January 19, 1923 in Chicago, IL, the son of Albert and Stella (Majka) Para. \r\nHe grew up in the Chicago area, before joining the U.S. Navy in 1944, and serving in the Pacific Theatre. \r\nIn 1946, Edward married Albie Bonk in Chicago, after her death he married Carol E. Boettcher on November 23, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV.\r\nHe was a self employed appliance and refrigeration technician working in the Chicago area until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Bruce and the Ladysmith VFW. Edward was a devout Catholic and philanthropist who donated to many Catholic charities and faithfully attended Mass. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Carol; daughter, Joyce Martin of Chicago; step-son, Richard Boettcher of Rock Falls; step-daughter, Pamela (Mark) Lovelien of Eau Claire; his grandson, Kristopher Martin; seven step-grandchildren, Richard, Russell and Randall Boettcher, and Graham, Claire, Seth and Grace Lovelien; his brother, Henry of Tampa, FL; his sister, Adell Romanek of Chicago; nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Joseph and Raymond.\r\nEdward and his wonderful sense of humor will be dearly missed by his family and friends.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Father William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Family and friends may call an hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
