Obituary

Edward "Ed" J. Prissel, age 82, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away, Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born January 17, 1934 in Eau Claire, the son of Edward and Anna Prissel. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1952. Ed married Evelyn A. Fichtenbauer on November 23, 1957 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in rural Durand, WI. Ed worked 38 years for the State of Wisconsin Highway Department of Transportation and worked many years as an Engineering Technician responsible for the "Sign Shop" and retired supervising eight counties in Wisconsin. Ed was the ultimate family man, who enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his family and friends. He especially loved hunting and fishing and nothing put a smile on his face more than seeing others get "the big one." His knowledge of the outdoors was infectious and he so easily shared his love of nature with others. Whether it was how to hook a musky, where to put a tree stand, or how to identify every tree in the woods, he loved to share those thoughts and experiences with those around him. Ed's lessons of the outdoors will live on forever through his family and hunting buddies. Ed and Evelyn enjoyed a wonderful life together and raised a loving family. Over the years, they spent time going to thrift sales, trying their luck at casinos, and nothing made them happier than spending time with one another. Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn; six children, Becky (Rick) Hager, Bobbi (Randy) Fleming, Dan (Mischell) Prissel, Rhonda (Paul) Frank, Dale (Tonya) Prissel and Shelly (Kevin) Gietman; grandchildren, Nicki and Tom Falkner, Jason (Ashley) Fleming, Erin (Sam) Fisher, Emily (Cindy) Peterson (Matt Hondel), Elizabeth Fleming, Joel and Paul Frank, Mitchell and Marshall Prissel, Lindsey and Leah Gietman; great grandchildren, Christian and Caleb Hatleli, Tristan and Breckan Hondel, Emery Fisher and Aaliyah Prissel; brother, Ray (Rosi) Prissel; sister, Teresa (Steve) Deinhammer; sisters-in-law, Ione Prissel and Vi Prissel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edmond, Clarence, and Dick Prissel; son-in-law, Thomas Falkner; and nephews, Mike and Rich Prissel. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, in Eau Claire with Father Tom Krieg officiating. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at West Chapel, Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lima, rural Durand, WI.
